Ben Kaplan applied to at least three dozen scholarships in high school, and won about $90,000 to use towards his Harvard degree (which ended up resulting in ZERO student loans!) In this book he shows you all the strategies and tools he used to win those scholarships, and all the stuff he's learned along the way coaching others to do the same.
If your goal is to graduate school debt-free like mine, or you just want to lesson the debt load you have, this book is for you. If you're a current high school student gearing up for college, a current college student, a parent or even a graduate student, this book has tips and tools that can help you get the scholarships you need. Ben uses "profiles" and "themes" to help you stand out among the applicants you're up against. I found this to be one of the most valuable pieces of information in the whole book! But it's certainly not the only valuable thing in there, it's a pretty big book! And he has several other's out as well as newer mutli-media resources on his new website.
The only drawback to this book is its age, 2002 was a long time ago when it comes to resources, websites and the like. Even his own website has changed dramatically so the codes in the book are irrelevant now. Plus due to the economy and other things some of the listed scholarships can't be found anymore or have changed a lot in the past few years.
Even if you just buy this book for the theme and profile help or just the Essay Writing chapters, it'll pay for itself if you can muster up just a little elbow grease for the applications (which I guarantee you will be easier after you read this book!)
